Roland Lavantureux Chablis 1er Cru “Fourchaume”

The Lavantureux family has farmed vineyards in Chablis for generations, but under Roland Lavantureux the domaine has emerged as one of the region's benchmark estates. The focus remains simple: exceptional farming, low-intervention winemaking, and allowing each vineyard site to speak clearly through the finished wine.

Fourchaume is among Chablis' most prestigious Premier Cru vineyards, situated on prized Kimmeridgian limestone soils rich in fossilized marine sediments. These ancient soils are responsible for the unmistakable oyster shell, chalk, and saline character that define great Chablis. The vineyard's favorable exposure allows fruit to achieve excellent ripeness while preserving the acidity and tension that make the appellation famous.

The 2023 vintage opens with aromas of Meyer lemon, green apple, white peach, white flowers, oyster shell, and crushed chalk. On the palate, layers of citrus and orchard fruit are framed by vibrant acidity and a powerful mineral backbone. Decanter awarded the wine 95 points, praising its completeness, balance, and aging potential.

What separates Fourchaume from many white Burgundies is its ability to deliver both intensity and precision.
