Flint, smoke, and salt. The Sancerre of Sancerres.

Sancerre is one of those wines I never tire of when it comes from the right hands.

This one comes from flint soils that have been farmed sustainably by the Delaporte family since the 17th century. The Silex is their flagship. White flowers, crushed chalk, citrus on the nose. On the palate it is textured and precise with a mineral backbone that reminds you exactly why Sauvignon Blanc from this corner of the Loire is unlike anything grown anywhere else on earth. 50 year old vines. Sustainably farmed. Whole bunch pressed and matured on lees in barrel. One of my go-to whites for a reason.
