Created in 1988 as a tribute to one of the house’s founders. Released only in exceptional vintages. The 2012 took over a decade of patience before disgorgement. It was worth every day.
A blend of 45% Pinot Noir and 55% Chardonnay from some of Champagne’s greatest terroirs Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize, Cramant, Ay, Ambonnay. Crushed rose petal, kirsch, white pepper, slate and mint. Red berries, rose, peony, blood orange and dried flowers. Medium to full bodied, vinous and broad, with racy acids and a long, delicate, mouthwatering finish. Its finest drinking still belongs ahead of us. Cellar confidently through 2054. A Champagne that belongs in any serious collection. 97 pts James Suckling.
