“So generous and effusive in red fruit aromas, then a nervy, firm structure that gives great freshness and drive. Strawberries, red currants, spearmint and minerals with flinty, stony nuances on a full body.”

Founded by Stéphane Vivier, Vivier Wines crafts small-production wines that emphasize vineyard expression over winemaking intervention. Every bottling reflects a commitment to balance, freshness, and transparency, allowing exceptional vineyard sites to define each wine's personality.

The 2023 Van der Kamp Pinot Noir comes from one of California's most historically significant vineyards. First planted in 1953 on the cool slopes of Sonoma Mountain, Van der Kamp is among the oldest continuously producing Pinot Noir vineyards in America. Its elevation, volcanic soils, and extended growing season create wines of exceptional aromatic complexity, vibrant acidity, and remarkable longevity.

The wine opens with vivid aromas of currant, crushed stone, and the vineyard's distinctive juniper note, followed by a palate framed by energetic acidity and layers of ripe red fruit. Dense yet graceful, the texture remains refined throughout, finishing with exceptional precision and gentle persistence.

Collectors often describe Van der Kamp as offering a distinctly Burgundian personality, earning it the affectionate nickname "Baby Vosne-Romanée." While every great vineyard ultimately speaks in its own voice, the comparison reflects the wine's perfume, finesse, and layered complexity more than any attempt to imitate Burgundy.
