The 2024 Williams Selyem Unoaked Chardonnay is a pure expression of older-vine Chardonnay from the Russian River Valley, made entirely without oak. Rather than relying on barrel fermentation for richness, Williams Selyem builds texture through old-vine concentration and sur-lie aging in stainless steel.
The 2024 opens with Meyer lemon, pear, quince, melon and white flowers. The palate is surprisingly rich for an unoaked Chardonnay, but vibrant citrus, kaffir lime, mineral character and a distinctly saline finish keep the wine precise and energetic. It is Chardonnay stripped of barrel influence, allowing the fruit, acidity and vineyard character to take center stage.
