Bassi Vineyard, SLO Coast AVA, San Luis Obispo, Central Coast · Sauvignon Blanc 60%, Chardonnay 40%
Lady of the Sunshine Chevy
Natural Central Coast white from a Demeter-certified, woman-owned estate one mile from the Pacific.
Gina Giugni founded Lady of the Sunshine in 2017 as a commitment to biodynamic farming and natural winemaking on California's Central Coast. In 2024, she and her husband Mikey acquired the 29-acre Bassi Vineyard, just one mile from the Pacific in the SLO Coast AVA, now the heart of their 42-acre farming operation.
The Chevey is inspired by the traditional white blends of France's Cheverny region, where Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay are classically married. This bottling blends fruit from coastal and inland sites, fermented separately with native yeast in old French oak, then foot-tread and whole-cluster pressed. The wine rests on lees for eight months before being racked once to blend and bottle, unfiltered and unfined. Aromas of stone fruit, citrus peel, and crushed rock lead to a palate of maritime brine, green apple, and hay, with bright acidity and mineral tension.
Fermented with native yeast in neutral French oak, aged on lees, bottled without fining or filtration with minimal sulfur. Drink from 2025 through 2028.
