Eisele Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Eisele Vineyard is one of the foundational sites of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Located on an alluvial fan east of Calistoga, the vineyard has been continuously cultivated since the 1880s. Cabernet from Eisele first gained recognition in the 1970s, and wines carrying the vineyard name have since become some of California's most sought-after and age-worthy bottles.

The vineyard encompasses approximately 38 acres, with exceptionally well-drained cobbly soils naturally limiting yields. The Palisades Mountains provide protection from the north while cooling westerly breezes enter through the Chalk Hill Gap, creating conditions capable of producing extraordinary concentration while retaining freshness and aromatic complexity.

The 2023 Eisele Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Almost half was matured in large-format foudres, with the balance in barriques, giving the wine a particularly restrained oak signature. Red and black currants, blackberry and cherry are layered with violet, sage, graphite, crushed stone, leather and earth. The palate is concentrated and richly tannic, yet remarkably supple and seamless, with the mineral character of the vineyard carrying through the exceptionally long finish.
