Chenin Blanc from the Loire is one of the most underestimated white wines in the world. This one changes minds.
Les Hauts de Husseau comes from 80 to 110 year old vines on the slopes of Montlouis, farmed organically by Jean-Philippe Blot who inherited the exacting standards his father Jacky built over decades. Citrus, white flowers, pear on the nose. Straight, tense and minerally on the palate with a clean saline finish that reflects the limestone soul of the Loire. The kind of precision that takes generations to achieve. One of the bottles I keep opening at home when nobody is watching.
