The Story

One of Napa Valley’s most legendary bottlings, defined by purity, restraint, and unmistakable signature character.
The first single-vineyard Cabernet in Napa Valley history. First bottled as a vineyard designate in 1966. A wine that defined an entire category before that category existed.
The 2018 is a cool, gently herbal wine with black cherries, cassis, a touch of licorice, mint, and the signature eucalyptus that comes only from these specific alluvial soils in western Oakville at the foot of the Mayacamas Mountains. Medium to full bodied, rich and velvety without heaviness, concentrated and intense, with long tannic but ripe finish. The first vintage under Lawrence Wine Estates, which took meticulous stewardship of this irreplaceable address. Aged in large oak in the tradition of the estate. This wine will cellar beautifully through 2045 and beyond. Decant 2 hours. Serve at 64F. 98 pts Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Independent.

Points
The Wine Independent
“98 points. Notes of creme de cassis, licorice, cedar, and charcoal slowly emerge from the glass, giving way to hints of chocolate mint and pencil lead. The medium to full-bodied palate is vivacious and intense, with mint-laced black fruit layers and a fine-grained texture, finishing long and lifted.”
