The most flamboyant of the First Growths, and in 2023 it delivered one of its finest recent performances.
Cuban cigars, blackberries, flowers, smoke, espresso, spice on the nose. Energetic and layered on the palate with racy acidity and a fruit that moves from red to black and back, with a refreshing touch of mint and dark chocolate. The 2023 was harvested later than almost any other First Growth, giving the Cabernet extraordinary phenolic ripeness at just 13.3% alcohol. 93% Cabernet Sauvignon. One of only three vintages in history with that much Cabernet in the blend. Begin drinking 2030. Cellar confidently through 2065. Decant 2 hours. 100 pts Vinous.
