"Sonoma Coast Pinot, defined by clarity, balance, and lineage."
Williams Selyem occupies a special place in the history of California Pinot Noir. Founded by Burt Williams and Ed Selyem, the winery emerged from humble beginnings to become one of the estates that helped demonstrate the extraordinary potential of Pinot Noir in Sonoma County. Its wines developed a fiercely loyal following, with allocations becoming prized among collectors long before California Pinot Noir enjoyed the international reputation it has today.
The 2023 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir captures the cooler side of the Williams Selyem portfolio. Fruit from fog-influenced coastal vineyard sites produces a wine with a distinctly savory personality, opening with forest floor and herbs before pomegranate and plum emerge across the palate. The finish is concentrated and persistent, marked by a subtle bittersweet chocolate character.
The wine was fermented with approximately 25% whole clusters and aged for 11 months in French oak, 42% new. At only 13.6% alcohol, the 2023 balances concentration with freshness, delivering the structure and energy that define great cool-climate Pinot Noir.
