The 2023 Jean-Marc Brocard Chablis Premier Cru Montmains comes from one of the classic Premier Cru vineyards on the left bank of the Serein. Montmains is known for combining Chablis' mineral tension with enough breadth and ripeness to give the wine substance without sacrificing freshness.
Made entirely from Chardonnay, the 2023 undergoes native-yeast fermentation and complete malolactic fermentation before approximately 14 months on fine lees, with about 70% aged in large oak foudres and 30% in stainless steel. The larger-format oak builds texture without giving the wine an overtly oaky character. Lemon, grapefruit and stone fruit meet white flowers, almond, hazelnut and flinty mineral notes before a long, saline finish.
