Fait-Main Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard
Heritage vineyard. Heritage hand. The Realm winemaker's solo project on Beckstoffer Las Piedras.
One of Napa's most storied stones. One of its most precise winemakers.
Benoit Touquette's 2023 Beckstoffer Las Piedras Cabernet Sauvignon earned a perfect 100 points from Jeb Dunnuck, who called it "absolutely magical juice." This is the wine that made Benoit want to start his own label. Las Piedras sits at the base of Spring Mountain in St. Helena, planted on rocky alluvial soils that reminded the Bordeaux native of home.
The vineyard traces back to the original Mexican land grants of the 1840s, making it one of the oldest planted sites in St. Helena. Andy Beckstoffer acquired Las Piedras in 1983 and replanted it to Clone 4 Cabernet Sauvignon, trained on a lyre system for optimal light and air exposure. The crushed-rock character of the terroir delivers dense, layered fruit with striking minerality. Benoit collaborates closely with the Beckstoffers, using shade cloth in late season to maintain even ripening. The wine shows incredible aromatics of red and black fruits, savory tobacco, leather, dried flowers, and a gorgeous mineral spine that builds with air. Full-bodied with ultra-fine tannins and exceptional length.
Whole-cluster fermentation, aged in French oak, biodynamic farming practices. Drink from 2030 through 2050.

“One of the wines of the vintage, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard offers incredible aromatics of red and black fruits intermixed with savory tobacco, leather, and dried flowers as well as gorgeous minerality that emerges with time in the glass. On the palate, it's full-bodied, with a dense, layered, focused texture that builds with time in the glass, and it has ultra-fine tannins and incredible length. This is absolutely magical juice from this brilliant winemaker. It offers pleasure today yet will benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age and keep for a solid two decades. Drink 2030-2050”
