There is a short list of American vineyards that need no introduction. Eisele Vineyard is on it.
First planted in the 1880s. Organically farmed since 1998. Biodynamic since 2000. Half a mile from the Palisades Mountains east of Calistoga, on soils that produce Cabernet of a complexity and elegance that cannot be manufactured anywhere else. The 2023 is a First Growth-level effort – red and black currants, new leather, dried flowers, loamy earth. Full bodied and seamless, with refined tannins, flawless balance, and a finish that rewards patience for decades. Acquired by the Pinault family, owners of Chateau Latour, in 2013.
