Situated just a few miles from the Pacific Ocean, Platt Vineyard has long been recognized as one of California's elite cool-climate vineyard sites. For years, many of the state's most respected wineries sourced Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from these windswept slopes. Following its acquisition by AXA Millésimes, the estate began producing wines under its own label, allowing the vineyard's character to take center stage.
The 2023 Estate Chardonnay is the inaugural release of this flagship bottling. Produced entirely from Wente Clone Chardonnay, the wine is whole-cluster pressed, fermented and aged on its lees in 35% new French oak, with only gentle lees stirring to preserve freshness while building texture. The bouquet reveals lemon zest, Meyer lemon, starfruit, white flowers, crushed oyster shell, and verbena, while the palate unfolds with white peach, hazelnut, saline minerality, and remarkable crystalline precision. Bright acidity and a long, focused finish define the wine's unmistakable coastal identity.
